Kelly Carter, a classically trained violinist, has played for over 25 years. She studied at MacPhail Center for the Arts, as well as under Gwen Armwood, Stephan Hubig, Steven Leung, Alex Mezeritzki, Stella Anderson and Pam Arnstein, Aaron Janse, and most recently, Sifei Cheng of the Minnesota Orchestra. Kelly serves as Concertmaster to the Northeast Orchestra, and plays first violin in the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra, principal second in the Minnehaha Repertory Orchestra and rotates amongst first and second violin in the Wayzata Symphony Orchestra.
Kelly is also the owner and lead teacher of Carter Music, teaching violin, viola, cello, and piano to over 35 talented students in the Twin Cities metro area. Her students are represented in top Minnesota orchestras, like Minnesota Youth Symphonies, GTCYS, and MNSOT.
Last, Kelly is the co-founder of El Sistema Minnesota, a social justice program that seeks community development through the vehicle of classical music. Operating for 5 years, the program served over 250 students in first through sixth grade in North Minneapolis and St. Paul.
Passionate about music education, Kelly is excited to step into the role of Managing Director with Minnehaha Music beginning the 2019-20 season.
